Cub Scout Pack 1452 has approximately 60 boys in 6 dens ranging from first to fifth graders that usually hold den and pack meetings at the First Presbyterian Church of Finleyville, PA.  Our pack is active all year round and invites new boys to visit and consider joining anytime during the year.  The boys participate in a variety of activities both in their own age-specific dens and as a whole pack.
In the fall, we start with a kick-off ice cream social meeting where we greet our new scouts.  Every Month. The Pack plans an activity, as dens concentrate on earning badges and pins. In January, Scouts begin preparing for
the Pinewood Derby model car racing competition.  Each boy constructs a pinewood car according to rules and guidelines and races against other boys' cars on a wooden track.  This is a very popular and well-attended event.

In March we have our Blue and Gold Banquet where the scouts all advance in rank and participate in a parent and son bake-off.  In February, the boys have the opportunity to construct a wooden sailboat and race it in the Raingutter Regatta boat race or make a rocket ship and race in the Space Derby.
In the summer the boys can attend a day camp at
Mingo Creek Park.  The boys also have the opportunity to go to Camp Independence at Heritage Reservation in Farmington, PA - a five day four night Cub Scout Camp in July.  While there, their schedules are full of choices such as archery, BB shooting, swimming, art study and nature walks, to mention a few.
The summer months are a more relaxed time for the pack because no formal den or pack meetings are held.  The pack plans a separate activity for each summer month (June, July, and August).  If a boy tends all three events, he earns the summertime pack pin.  The largest sign-up is held in early September shortly after school begins.  If you think your son would have fun with us, please check out our calendar and attend the next pack meeting, or join up in September!
