Pack 159 Cub Scout Boat Regatta

The Raingutter Regatta is similar to the pinewood Derby except that the models are miniature boats. Although the seas are

only 16 foot lengths of raingutter filled with water, and the ships a mere 7 inches long, the race is a very exciting event, Each

boy will build build his own boat with supervision and help from his family. He also provides the wind for the sail with his own lung power.

Each scout must buy a boat kit at Ramsey Out door and build it prior to the scout picnic.  The race will be held during the picnic.

The races are run in rain gutters filled with water.  The boat is powered during the race by the scout blowing air through a straw.

The first boat to the end is the winner.  Every scout participates in a minimum of two races.

Each heat will have a maximum of six boats.  Each heat will have two races. The winners from both heats will have a third race to

determine which boat goes to the finals. When the same boat wins both heats a third race won’t be necessary.

The number of races for the finals will depend on the number of boats entered in the Regatta. This will be announced before the

finals begin. The finals will continue until the fastest three boats have been determined.

Siblings can sign-up and race in a separate race which will be run after the scouts.
