Den Activity - Make a food guide pyramid
To keep your body healthy, it is important that you eat a well-balanced diet. The Food Guide Pyramid helps you by showing how many servings of certain kinds of food you should have each day.
As a den we will make a food guide pyramid and use it as a sign to display at Wilbers grocery store to help collect food for Scouting for Food.
Supplies
One large piece of poster board
Old magazines to cut out pictures of food
Markers
Scissors
Glue sticks
How to make a food guide pyramid sign
1. On a large piece of poster board draw with a marker the outline of the food guide pyramid
2. Divide the pyramid into the proper sections
3. Label the sections of the pyramid
4. Assign each boy as section of the pyramid to fill in with pictures from old magazines or draw food groups
5. Carefully help the boys glue their pictures into the proper spaces on the pyramid
6. Discuss why a balanced diet is important and how to use it
7. Display it !!!
