and Jacob Roosevelt place flags near the cemetery's west end.

This
stone marks the grave of James Humphrey Camp a Confederate
Calvary solider in the Civil War. Sgt. Camp was a member
of the 17th Virginia Cav, this unit fought at battle of Gettysburg
before returning to protect their home state of Virginia.
They ended the war at the battle of Appomattox Court
House where Gen Robert E. Lee surrendered to Gen US Grant.

W. C.
WAIT, farmer and stock raiser Section 7, P. O. Towanda, located
where he now resides in the spring of 1871. Mr. W. is a native
of New York, and was born in Montgomery County, May 24, 1828.
He lived in Ohio, Missouri and Illinois previous to coming
to Kansas. Was married in Illinois to Miss Hannah Putnam.
They have five children - Ida, Adair, Ella, Florence and Maggie.
In 1862 Mr. W. enlisted in the One Hundred and Twenty-seventh
Illinois Volunteer Infantry, serving until the close of the
war. Was mustered out as Sergeant.. Is a member of the GAR.

Norman
Partridge graduated form Towanda High School in 1962 as a
member of the last graduating class to attend all 4 years
of high school at the old THS before the Circle district was
founded. He served as a Warrant Officer First Class
in the Army in Viet Nam where he was killed in action on Sept.
16, 1968. WO1 Partridge's name appears on the Viet Nam
War Memorial Wall on Panel 43W Line 08 on the national mall
in Washington DC.

The
background photo on this page is the grave marker of Private
David Wion, 6th Wisconsin Inf Company G. The
6 Wisc served in many important battles in the Civil War
including Second Bull Run, Gettysburg and Appomattox Court
House.
